Charge to the Trigger Board =========================== 28 September 2004 1. Membership The Trigger Board Chair is appointed by and reports to the Spokes. Each Physics Group will have 1 representative on the Trigger Board. The Run Coordinator and up to two "at large" representatives who are appointed by the Chair in consultation with the Spokes will also be members of the board. 2. Creation of Trigger Lists Timely creation of trigger lists that meet the Physics Goals of the experiment (following guidelines from the Spokes). The trigger lists must be compatible with the predicted range of instantaneous machine luminosities, maximum L1/L2/L3 rates as set by the Spokes in consultation with the Run Coordinator. The members of the trigger board have the responsibility of ensuring that the work required to develop and test the trigger list is carried out. Approve of special runs and their trigger lists. 3. Verification Information and tests of the components of the trigger list should be brought to the TB for evaluation and certification. 4. Arbitration The Spokes provide general guidance for dividing up the available bandwidth according to broad priorities. Detailed apportionment of the resources will be reached by negotiation among the physics groups. If no consensus is reached the TB chair will make decisions in consultation with the Spokes. 5. Monitoring - Monitoring the physics performance of the trigger lists. Evaluating the needs of D0 triggering, providing feedback to the various trigger development efforts. The TB should also comment on/evaluate the priorities of the development of specific trigger tools as relates to the priorities of the physics groups. 6. Triggermeisters The Triggermeisters are ex-officio members of the TB who report to the TB chair and the Run Coordinator. The TMs are responsible for setting up the configuration files for the runs based on the TB decisions, keeping the documentation of triggers used, and to monitoring trigger performance. The TM are responsible for taking any emergency actions needed to keep the trigger operational.
