I have neglected to add a number of changes to the news section over the last year so I will add all the updates here. The 5th Dimension has been configured for video conferencing with a Polycom 7000 plus the subwoofer which provides power. This system has the ability to transmit "People and content". You can connect your computer to the "Visual Concert" box mounted on the wall via the cable on the desktop and have the desktop transmitted along with the image from the set top camera. The remote systems must be able to display "People and Content" to get both images.
The Dog House has a new Polycom 7000 system without the subwoofer. From the 5th Dimension we learned that the subwoofer just gets in the way. This sytem was chosen so we could attach

On Monday May 12th a new projector (Dell 2400MP) was installed in the Hurricane Deck. This projector has a 5 year exchange warranty to reduce the time needed to get a functioning projector back into position. The other 2400MP projector we own has no exchange warranty and is the backup for the the Hurricane Deck. The 3300MP projector that was in the Hurricane Deck that regularly required power cycling has been returned to our spare pool.I wanted to thank Pete Simon and Victor Martinez for handling the power cycling of the 3300MP projector while it was installed in the Hurricane Deck. I also wanted to apologize to everyone meeting in the Hurricane Deck who suffered through the power cycling.
The 4100 MP projector we own was sent out for repair in December 2007. It came back in mid-April 2008. When it was installed in the Hurricane Deck and powered on there was a small pop and the lamp did not come on. It has been returned for repair.

The camera in the Far Side does not work. I borrowed a camera from Sheila Cisko and installed it in the Far Side. The camera that failed, Canon VC-C1, is no longer produced so I need to find a suitable replacement. - Wed 26 Mar 2008 - Geoff Savage

Victor Martinez and Pete Simon installed another bulb in the 2400MP projector in the Hurricane deck. We are now out of bulbs for the 2400MP and the old projector the 4100MP is still out for repair. If the bulb in the 2400MP fails again we will have to put a less bright 3300MP projector in the Hurricane Deck. - Mon 10 Mar 2008 - Geoff Savage

Installed our only spare video conferencing camera in the Far Side because the camera that was in there added a green tint to the picture. Someone had attempted to repair the camera by moving the video connection to the polycom unit to the audio input of the polycom which caused the microphones to not function. If another camera fails we can borrow one from Sheila Cisko while we determine the best solution for replacing the failed camera. - Dec 2007 - Geoff Savage

Replace the TV in the Far Side. It was blinking on and off once a second. Thanks to Jim Fagan for purchasing and installing the TV. - There have been failed Ad-Hoc conferences recently, with their failures traced to
participants using NetMeeting. Users of this kind of software
please be aware that it is not supported by ESnet. It is everyone's responsibility that
our meetings can be conducted properly.
GnomeMeeting and OhPhoneX are exceptions in that they have been determined not to affect Ad-Hoc meetings adversely (once correct settings have been entered).
