These Specific Criteria first appeared in the GENERAL Folder of D0NEWS on December 13, 1994. They were updated on 2/8/01, with the changes approved by the IB, resulting in this version for Run 2. They were updated on 4/25/01, with the addition of a 6th service category (f). They were updated again on 9/23/04 with a change approved by the IB about an "alternate authorship rule" (see below). Specific Criteria for Someone to be Added to the Run 2 D0 Author List --------------------------------------------------------------------- All individuals need to qualify separately for the Run 2 Author List, using only Run 2 service tasks (and not Run 1 service tasks) to meet the criteria for authorship. Past work on Run 2 service tasks counts (i.e. an individual who has been working for the last 5 years on an upgrade project can claim that time as service task work towards Run 2 authorship). Tasks on a Run 2B project are considered as Run 2 service tasks. In order to become a new D0 Author, one must satisfy the following three criteria: 1) A person must spend his or her full research time on D0 for 1 calendar year, or the equivalent (100% of research time on D0 for 1 year, 50% of research time on D0 for 2 years, etc). This time can be during Run 1 or Run 2. 2) Of the time a person spends on D0, at least 50% must be spent on Run 2 D0 service tasks (a)-(f) for the time period indicated in criteria #1. These service tasks are described in the Authorship Rules. 3) The minimum amount of time spent on Run 2 service tasks (a)-(f) must be at least 12 hours/week for the time period indicated in criteria #1. This is an absolute minimum, and is not prorated according to the percentage of research time spent on D0. It is recognized that there will be many variations in circumstances, and that some interpretation of individual cases will be necessary. Any person not fulfilling the above criteria can appeal to the Authorship Committee for an exemption if he or she thinks there are mitigating circumstances. On 9/23/04 the IB passed the following resolution about a trial alternate authorship rule: The IB requests that the spokes explore and initiate the alternate authorship rule with a few trial cases, and report back to the IB. The alternate authorship rule allows authorship after six months of 100% service work on a pre-agreed project.
