The D0 Institutional Board approved this proposal on July 26, 2001. Subject: Changes in Service Task wording for D0 Authorship rules Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2001 10:47:10 -0400 (EDT) From: Sharon Hagopian 850-644-4777/630-840-8384 To: d0_ib@fnal.gov Dear Collaborators, Over the past year the type of D0 shift work has broadened but the wording concerning shifts in the Authorship section of the D0 Governance document has not changed accordingly. Also D0 physicists have assumed system manager tasks of D0 Linux clusters both at remote institutions and at Fermilab. These tasks have been considered as service when qualifying physicists for authorship. Below are the current versions of the two relevant service task items and the revised versions. The complete version of the current Run II D0 Authorship rules can be found on D0 WWW at: http://www-d0.fnal.gov/~madaras/authorlist/rules/d0_author_rules_run2.txt These revisions do not represent any change in policy or in application. It is a change in wording to reflect actual practice. As usual, the D0 Authorship committee has the authority to decide in each case if specific work qualifies for service. The committee makes recommendations on authorship to the D0 spokespersons, who make the final decision. Please send us any comments or questions concerning this. If there are no objections, these changes will be incorporated in the next update of the D0 Governance document. Sharon Hagopian (hagopian@hep.fsu.edu) and Jerry Blazey (gblazey@niu.edu) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Current Service Task Items concerning computing and shift work: (c) Working on the processing of Monte Carlo events or of data obtained at DAB or at any DZero test facility. (d) Running shifts either at DAB or at any DZero test facility. We imagine that about four shifts per month would prevent memory loss and the need for extensive retraining. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Revised Service Task Items concerning computing and shift work: (c) Working on the management of computers, monitoring or processing for Monte Carlo events or D0 data. (d) Running shifts that are defined by the D0 spokespersons as necessary to the experiment construction or operation.
