On 10/1/09 the IB passed the following change to the "Retirement and Severance Benefit" section of the authorship rules: First paragraph left unchanged: Normally, each active experimenter who leaves DØ will be entitled to remain on the author list one year after departure from the experiment. In recognition of the many scientists who have qualified for Run II authorship and left the experiment prior to the start of collaboration-wide physics publications in professional journals, those scientists will be considered authors of the first five such collaboration-wide physics publications if their retirement benefits do not otherwise provide for those publications. Added two (2) new paragraphs: For an absence of one year or less, a returning collaborator remains on the author list, with no additional requirements. Upon his/her next retirement from D0, the returning collaborator is entitled to remain on the author list a length of time equal to one year less the time he/she was gone from D0. For an absence of more than one year, a returning Run II author shall be added to the masthead under the appropriate institution, present a well-defined plan of active involvement in D0 to the Spokespersons, and petition the Authorship Committee for reinstatement to the author list, based on the proposed plan of activity. Collaborators returned to the author list under this rule will not have a second retirement benefit for Run II papers and will leave the author list at the same time they leave the masthead.
