Don Lincoln (Scientist) Service Work: Tracker Front End Electronics 5-8 hrs per week Service Task Group: Operations Service task Leader: D. Denisov Description: "I interface between engineers at Feynman and D0 with respect to the VRB and VRBC firmware. I do not write firmware, but I test and debug, letting the engineers know the symptoms and pinpointing where the problem lies. This has been a real mess, due to the history. We now have reliable firmware, but no spares. We're working on getting the spare situation under control." B ID 20 hours per week Service Task Group: B ID Group Service task Leader: Meena Narain and Gordon Watts Description: "I am working on bID for high-pt jets. Specifically, I've been working on mu-tag and secondary vertex tagging. I had to completely remake ptrel templates for high pt jets (the old ones were for B physics, not high pt). My results are useful for any search using high pt Bs and have some bearing on the higher-end Higgs domain. In addition, I have been working a long time on secondary vertexing. I originally started testing the existing secondary vertexing code and dominant implementation (d0root). I spent 6-8 months maintaining and debugging the code when the graduate student author left. He's back now and has taken over the maintenance. Now I spend a lot of time qualifying the code. I have extensive results on the behavior of high pt btagging. I also spend a fraction of my time running jobs to fix up TMB files which were made with faulty RECO. Updated: October 16, 2003
