Global Strategy
- The Common Alpgen+Pythia MC production will start from a conservative
setting. Variations around this setting will be made to try to fit the data
best. To this aim:
- 2 factorization scales will be used,
- variations around their central values will be made using the global
Qfact
- using all the defaults, different PDFs will be tried
- using all the defaults, the pT(j) cuts will be modified
- using all the defaults, the dR(j,j) cuts will be changed
- The optimal Alpgen setting will be derived from these systematic comparisons
between data and W(+jets)->enu/munu and Z(+jets)->ee/mumu Alpgen+Pythia
samples. For these samples, mainly gluon or light flavor quark jets will
be considered (final states w/ 1 or 2 c from the ME will be rejected in order
to avoid double counting wrt to W+c+jets and W+ccbar+jets processes). Nevertheless
we'll also produce samples of V+Q+jets and V+QQ+jets in order not to delay
analyses using b-tagging
- This optimal setting will then be utilized for all the Alpgen+Pythia
processes (V+jets w/ tau decays, V+Q+jets, V+QQ+jets, photon+jets, QQ+jets,
H+jets, VV+jets,...) while waiting for further specific studies
- We'll study MC samples of V+(0-4)jets
