Status of current test release -
preparations for p15: Angela
Bellavance
Just a few packages remain with problems in t03.07.
Unfortunately, l3fanalyze appears to be one of them (info from Dugan).
Aim is as soon as possible to progress to testing using trigsim.
Action item:
As soon as Angela gives the go ahead,
Han Do will run trigsim with useL2=yes, l3only, global_CMT-10.00 on
run 170247 (This is the first run taken with p13 online that we used
for the early p13 verification tests.)
-
L3 primary vertex studies for jets and
Higgs: Andy Haas.
Andy presented results showing that the L3 primary vertex in z tool
can be used to sharpen the turn-on curve for jet triggers and be used
to reject events with large |z| (which are not much use in the Higgs
search because b-tagging is required.
Reduction in trigger rate of order 25% with no loss in efficiency are
expected for both of these changes.
Timing plot odd: cal. cluster tool with z-vertex uses 4-times as much
time as without.
Action items:
-
Andy (with help from Jon) will write a tool to make physics_results
for the vertex tool and write a filter to cut on |z|.
-
Chris will check that the vertex tool is not using axial-only tracks.
-
Jon will investigate logic of how z-vertex position is used in order
to try and understand timing.
N.B. Andy's efforts are an excellent model for how physics groups
needing a particular feature can help commission L3 features.
Discussion Items
-
Dugan is attempting to separate trigsim and trigsim_analyze. A new
package trigsim_tmb (or some such name) will be written.
-
It is thought that no trigger list changes are needed to run
global_CMT-10.00 with the current test release.
-
Some parameters for the calorimeter unpack tool have become redundant.
Jon graciously agreed to leave these vestigial parameters in the tool
definition - otherwise a huge amount of by-hand editing of the trigger
database would be needed to produce a list that would run with t02.07.
The absence of an automatic change propagation tool was bemoaned by
all present.
-
Terry promised to find the time to add some of the most important
missing tools to the list that will become tsim_p15. These include:
taus, road-method electrons, xy vertex, IP-based b-tag.
