DØ Level 3 Algorithms Meeting:
27th March 2002 in the Farside
Talks, verbal reports
-
Online rejection factors for new electron and jet filters with
global_CalMuon5.0: Terry Wyatt.
For electrons rejection factors are very close to those expected and for jets
they are within a
factor of two (and more than adequate for our current needs).
-
Status report on L3 muons: Martijn Mulders.
-
Status report on L3 tracking and vertexing work at IC: Per Jonnson.
-
CFT-only track filter gives almost identical performance to global
track filter. This is inconsistent with what Daniel showed two weeks ago
and clearly needs checking.
-
The track-based primary vertex tool is being exercised using both
CFT-only and global tracks.
Resolution on Monte Carlo events is more than adequate. Efficiency to
find vertex in real data and number of tracks per vertex would be
interesting to know. It would be good to check with Daniel that the
optimum parameters for the global tracking are being used (especially
given that in real data 50% of the stereo fibres are missing and so
matching has presumably to be done in r/phi only).
-
Per showed very first comparisons of the performance of the hit-based
and track-based primary vertex finders. It's great that we are now in
a position to do this. Given the low luminosity we should be using
events with small numbers of min. bias events overlayed (mean number ~
0.3 for 10E30?).
-
For details of Per's impact parameter-based b-tagging work see
his talk at last week's b-id meeting.
-
Study of the effect of calorimeter hot cells
on the L1, L3 trigger rates: Tibor Kurca.
Tibor has performed an analysis at the level of reco_analyze rootuples
of L1 and L3 triggers for runs of differing numbers of
calorimeter hot cells.
Conclusions were rather difficult to draw at the moment, but one very
surprising feature was that the runs with a large number of
calorimeter hot cells seemed to have a much reduced, rather than much
increased, fraction of L1 calorimeter triggers!
-
Update on taus and various technical issues/problems: Yann Coadou.
-
Sudeshna Banerjee will work with Yann on developing the tau tool.
-
At the moment there is no "offline" tau id. to compare with.
-
L1 and L3 now work together in trigsim.
-
Yann has confirmed that in data taken with p11.02 running online
the problem with the incorrect L3 trigger bits has been fixed.
-
Yann has encountered various problems running tsim_l3 in
t02.10.00 and t02.09.00 and after the meeting has
contacted the experts.
