DØ Level 3
Algorithms Meeting: 29th January 2003 in the Farside
Talks
-
L3 Muon was approved to run online by the Trigger Board. In the next
trigger list (10.2) we shall
have new stand-alone local muon triggers for high p_t single
muons and matched central_track-local_muon triggers for low p_t
single muons. For details see:
-
Local Muon and Track Match
Certification: Martin Wegner
-
Proposed new
triggers: Terry
Wyatt
-
The to do list for L3Muon includes:
-
Doing something about the region at the end of the central muon
system where the integral B.dl is small and the local p_t is grossly
overestimated when the track fit fails.
-
Restoring the option to take the highest p_t matched central track
rather than the best chisquared.
-
Look at timing cut to remove cosmics. (Potentially dangerous if
scintillators are poorly calibrated.)
-
Study dependance of matching efficiency on relative polarity of
toroid/solenoid, which is currently unknown to L3.
-
-
Status of preparations for p15:
-
gcc compiler compliance: Angela Bellavance
-
Angela has fixed ~20 packages, including some that had logical errors
highlighted by gcc compilation errors.
-
She will make a log of the packages she has fixed available.
-
Time estimate for a first working(*) test release is about two weeks.
(*) Working means that it will compile and hopefully run in -l3only
mode without crashing (too often) and we can start serious testing.
-
Track-based 3-D primary vertex
finding: Chris Barnes
On track for p15. Action items:
-
Talk scheduled for the collaboration week meeting.
-
May be that IP-based b-tagger will use beam spot only in first instance?
-
Per and Chris will get p_t dependent track errors implemented.
-
L3 configuration information via
COOR: Michiel Sanders.
On track for p15. New COOR command: l3update, needs to go into
trigger list. Action item:
-
Michiel and Terry will talk to Elizabeth. Does this need to go into
trigger database? Update to .xml generator required.
-
CPS calibration: Nothing heard from
Andre Turcot or Yi Jiang concerning status.
-
Refined treatment of electron shower
shape: will not make it for p15.
-
Steps to make a new package (to define the
physics_results): Chris Barnes
A user's guide: Please use it to make your package!
-
Discussion: What are our timescales for getting stuff ready for p15?
-
Two weeks time we have a running version of test release and
compatible trigger list for -l3only tests.
-
Aim to be ready for cut of p15 at end of February.
-
Other than things on the above list please do not release ANYTHING
into the test release without first consulting with Jon, Angela, Dan and Terry.
