The highest priority of the TSG will be provision of tools needed to develop new trigger lists, specifically V14 later this year. These tools may include but are not limited to rate estimators and efficiency calculations. Specifically, the TSG is charged with the development of common tools for evaluation of L1, L2, and L3 triggers in terms of efficiencies and performance for physics. These tools must be appropriate and useful for all analysis efforts. Accordingly the TSG will also have responsibility for development and maintenance of Trigsim.
The TSG is the natural forum for trigger studies. The studies should be apropriately documented to be useful to most analyser. These studies will provide feedback on the tools developed by the TSG and on the simulation.
In the longer term the TSG will also be responsible for the extension of all trigger tools to include Run IIb upgrade elements.
The group will work in cooperation with the Trigger Board. The Trigger Board will continue to negotiate and establish trigger list priorities. However, TSG will provide the tools and trigger studies required for these discussions. The group will also work in close cooperation with the physics and trigger groups. The L1, L2, L3, and Run IIb trigger groups are responsible for the implementation and certification of trigger capabilities (hardware terms, L2 and L3 tools and filters). The Triggermiestiers and the Trigger DB group are responsible for the tools to implement the trigger list.
The TSG leaders will report to the Software Algorithms Coordinator.
