The DØ offline computing systems for Run II consist of a central analysis system cluster, an offline processing farm, a 750-TB capacity storage robot with an associated cluster for moving data into and out of the robot, Linux desktops, NT desktops, build machines for the supported platforms to which we distribute releases, and various test systems. Users will be most concerned with the following machines/clusters:
dØmino The large Origin 2000 system (currently
48 processors). Used for interactive and batch processing of
offline analysis jobs, code development, and caching (both long and short
term) of physics datasets. It has attached a 5 TB disk
plant. This is roughly allocated as 1 TB of project disk (group administered),
1 TB of temp disk (institutionally administered), 0.5 TB of scratch space,
and 2.5 TB of SAM cache space (centrally administered). The
user home areas and product areas for dØmino are
NFS served from another Origin system, dØ2ka, which also provides
these services to the unix/linux workstation cluster.
