Graphics group report for July 2003 ------------------------------------ This report will cover the progress in the event displays over several months. I/ d0ve The main item on the to-do list was support for multiple screens for the control room display. There has been technical difficulties that are now overcome and a new version of d0ve is now running online. I haven't seen it yet. Filtering by triggers should be available. II/ d0scan There have been progress on the more technical aspect of getting d0scan to work with the test releases (GCC). Since we don't have TGS Open Inventor for that combination of RH release and GCC version, it was decided to give Coin (an open source implementation) a try. Iguana, the library on which d0scan is based, has been compiled for GCC. However there are still problems with some particular shapes (NURBS) in use in d0scan, there is no immediate solution forseen on the Coin side (the claim is that the bug is in the GLU lib). We should investigate if we can live without the NURBS. In addition, new features have been added to d0scan: - improved 3D view correct problems in MC track display, add unstable particles add CFT clusters revive MDT hit display - improved 2D XY and YZ views calorimeter, muon - allow to display L1 CAL on the (eta, phi) view for TMBs - improved calorimeter lego view (was on to-do list) actual size of cell used can view towers and cells (pT or E) cell display in ADC counts depth by depth can click on lego and get info about cell/tower - improved physics lego view automatic Z scaling simple cone jets R=0.7 - general bug corrections, fix crashes TO DO: - finish the implementation of the XY and RZ views - display trigger that passes - find a solution for d0scan/Coin [The list is of course much longer but these are the main points that limits the use of d0scan for analysis and for online]
