Remote Computing @ Beaune
Sub-Group 1: Resources/management/Collaboration Issues
Charge:
- Before the meeting: Poll, the collaboration with the assigned RC
plenary speakers, all D0 institutions for statement of existing resources
and prospects until 2006 concerning:
- resources available for support of collaboration-wide computing (data
processing, Monte Carlo generation,…),
- resources available for regional support (e.g. as a remote analysis
center for a geographical region),
- resources available for local analysis (as an institutional analysis
center)
- Prepare a description of the existing organization inside D0 to develop
and support Remote Computing.
- Prepare a description of D0 computing resources at Fermilab and their current
capabilities in terms of data processing and reprocessing.
- During the Parallel Sessions We need a focused discussion leading
to a clear understanding of what Fermilab and remote computing resources are
available to D0 now and over the next 2-3 years, who owns each resource (dedicated
D0, shared HEP, shared institutionally etc.), and the available bandwidth
to access each resource.
- Address monitoring procedures to allow evaluations of the computing
model.
- Evaluation of the quality of user support, contact between centers and
Fermilab.
- Discussion of how to handle peaks/crises in demand - short term expanded
use of local resources.
- A discussion should also be held on general management issues.
- This should include the relation between Fermilab D0 computing management
and local management of remote resources.
- Propose model(s) for management of Remote Computing.
- For the General Remote Computing session Prepare summaries of the parallel
session discussions, and be prepared to contribute ideas and information to
integrate with those from the other RC parallel sessions into the overall
Remote Computing Plan.
Remote resources:
All remote sites are being requested to fill in the following spreadsheet.
We are looking for a list of all current resources and planned future resources.
Mail the completed spreadsheet to Iain Bertram.
I think the sheet is self-explanatory.
SpreadSheet: (last Updated June 10,
2003) You may need to save the file to disk before editing.
Please fill in a seperate line for each type of CPU.
