  fix broken l1l2 data chunk and speed up db access.

DSPACK p14-br-03 <- p14-br-02
  Sigh --- backwards compatibility part
  of last change had a problem, which led to us
  sometimes still writing corrupted data
  (didn't check that mode is input before
  checking the version number and applying the workaround).
  Really fix it now?
cps_calibration p14-03-01-b2 <- p14-03-01-b1
  removed some debugging database queries to speed up database access.
