The DŘ SAM Operations Model

 

  1. Users have the following resources for problem-solving on their own:
    1. Check sam_users mail list and/or d0news for scheduled or already announced problems with the system.
    2. SAM User FAQ
    3. Archives for sam_users and sam_admin
  2. Problems with SAM, from users or station administrators, should be sent to sam_admin@fnal.gov.
  3. Problems should be fielded by the experiment’s offline shifter, who may
    1. Solve the problem and answer the email.
    2. Answer the email and indicate that s/he will pass the problem along to the SAM expert-on-call.  The expert on call answers problems during day shift hours, US Central Time, except for online problems as noted below.

 

Note!  Currently (10/14/03), the shift roster for offline shifts only supports coverage 16hrs/7days.

           This window of coverage is from 2am – 6pm US Central Time.  Outside that window, problems are only fielded by volunteer effort.

           For online SAM problems which affect data taking, the SAM expert on call can be paged.
