CUSTOMIZING EXMH:

The Exmh window is divided into three functional parts. These parts
can be distinguished by their corresponding scroll bars on the side of
the exmh window. The first part is the "Folder Display". It shows
all the folders that you currently have. The second part is the "table
of contents display". This is the middle subwindow. It shows the summary
of all the messages of the selected folder in the folder display window.
The third part is the "Message Display subwindow". This displays
the content of the selected message in the table of contents display.
The Exmh window has three groups of buttons. The first group at the
top of the exmh display is the main buttonlist or ubuttonlist. These buttons
apply to exmh itself. The second group of buttons referred to as (Fops)
is for folder operations and the third group of buttons referred to as
(Mops) applies to the current message in the message display window. The
terms Fops, Mops, and ubuttonlist are terms used when customizing exmh
through the definition of X resources which will be discussed later.
There are many ways of customizing exmh. You can add custom TCL code,
define X resources for assigning colors, and also for defining new buttons
and menus. The simplest way of customizing exmh is through the Preferences
user interface. The "preferences" menu in the "Main Buttonlist"
group of buttons at the top of the exmh window offers a wide range of options
to fit every user's needs. It exposes numerous knobs and dials that control
a lot of the behavior of exmh. Any changes in the preferences' settings
will be applied to the exmh system. This document will focus on the basic
exmh customization through the definition of X resources.
For additional information on how to customize EXMH, refer to Customizing EXMH.
