Date: Tue, 30 May 2000 18:30:17 +0200 (METDST) From: Pierre Petroff To: Marek Zielinski Subject: electronics and Uranium noise database Plots Dear Marek, You will find a .ps file attached which is a first tentative to estimate the total noise (ele + U). I have followed more or less the Bob's recipe There are 4 plots per page corresponding to one defined layer it is order in increasing layer number from 1 to 17 .. In each set of 4 plots you have 1- capa fron Dan Owen database average over phi in nF 2- U noise from John scaled by sqrt(5.5) in Gev 3- elec. noise calculated with the Dean's formula and assuming that U-noise and ele. noise are the same in the layer 3. in Gev 4- the convolution of u noise and ele noise in Gev The data range from eta =1 to 37 I assume the value are the same for eta<0 per symmetry I put the corresponding files (capa, U noise, ele noise, results) in D0mino ~petroff/calib/noise Remark: 1-the layer 1 1,2,3 shows a rise of U noise for eta>34 this not the case for the capa so I have not taken into account this rise for the elec. noise. 2-no subtlety concerning mixed geo vs plate geom (see Bob's proposal) in the final result. I hope this level 0 work will help ! kind regards PP http://www-d0.fnal.gov/~d0upgrad/d0_private/software/jetid/pileup_and_noise.txt
