STOV and STSX

Summary of Operation

The STOV and STSX boards get a copy of the L1/L2 data that the DFEA sends out. These boards ignore the L1 records and only process the L2CFT records. The STOV (overlay) boards do some processing and send L2 records to the STSX boards, which in turn generate L2 and L3 records.

When a L1accept occurs each STSX board will get some early L2CFT records (directly from the DFEAs) and some late L2 records (from the STOVs). Once all records have been received then the STSX can begin processing the data. Note that all record types are varible length!

Record Types

STOV L2
STSX L2
STSX L3

The STOV/STSX Technical Design Report is available as DZERO note 4784.
The primary author of this firmware is Thei Wijnen, an engineer at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands.
When he's not working on ATLAS and other fun CERN stuff Thei maintains a webpage with information about his STOV and STSX designs.
