Minutes of the ICD meeting at UTA (with FNAL by phone) Friday 01-MAY-1998 1:00 pm Send corrections to Elizabeth Gallas --------------------------------------------------------------- Next meeting: Friday 11 am 8-may-1998. --------------------------------------------------------------- ACTION ITEMS !!!!!!!!!! We need to order scintillator asap. let's think about what final tests need to be done, if anything, before we place the order. --------------------------------------------------------------- LEE - unable to attend meeting - can send EG status to include in the minutes. --------------------------------------------------------------- UTA's DOE proposal is due this week, but we did manage to get some things done. ELIZABETH - reported on fnal activities: E talked to DEL - was reminded again to look over the icd polishing part of the fiber polishing note. he will do this asap and get back to E, who will make the changes and send a copy to JIA LI ABID Abid Patwa, graduate student with MR at Stony Brook, is working with J.Kotcher at BNL on the FPS. They are worrying now about - alignment needs to be accurate to 3mm - perhaps we can make a stud template which the mechanical techs at fnal can use to put the studs in the cryostat. - cable routing - Abid has sent us their proposed cable routing. JIA LI should take this drawing and overlay our proposed cable routine over it - then we can iterate toward a mutually agreeable solution. JIA LI SHOULD CONTACT THEM NEXT WEEK OR SOMETIME SOON. DAN EDMUNDS (re: solenoid test readout) indicated that some fraction of readout channels have been kept live for a variety of tests. E needs to talk to: DEAN about solenoid test electronics ED about cable routing RICH smith about how many blocks JACK about iron block support and installation Phyllis to get official address for lab8 for scintillator delivery. --------------------------------------------------------------- MARK reports that despite the DoE proposal distraction, work on the module test stand has continued, though some roaming person seems bent on turning the hv off to the trigger counters. Current tests are on the supertile plus one fiber cable to measure attenuation. We know that the yield is more than twice the run I tiles, so we feel pretty comfortable with ordering the 1/2" tile - don't know if we should wait for the yield test. We should talk again about it next week. ANDY did an inventory of fiber in the Swift center. There is a partially used spool of D=.9mm WLS BCF91A (originally 225m). We should place an order for the remaining fiber needed, which we estimated in the latest budget to be = 1 meter x 12 channels x 16 boxes x 2 ECs x 2 fibers/ch = 768 m JIA LI - does not know when box prototype will be in but last one takes 2 weeks so it should be here next week. --------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- POST MEETING NEWS: ELIZABETH got word from PHYLLIS DEERING, manager of lab 8: Scintillator can be shipped to: Fermilab Kirk & Wilson Roads Receiving Department Batavia, Ill. 60510 Attention: Phyllis Deering, Lab 8 I hope to get the files finished for the templates this week if the machines cooperate. Remember bits need to be ordered. You should get the following: 50 each - 1/16" End Mill necked to .5" 50 each - .040" End Mill necked to .3" 100 each - 1/8" End Mills 20 each - .045 Ball Call me about the bits. I can write the order if you want. I started this message this morning but finally finished it now. Have a Nice Day, Phyllis --------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 1 May 1998 GALLAS@utalf1.uta.edu wrote: > Hi Phyllis, > > We are gearing up to order the scintillator from Bicron > (next week sometime). > We would like it delivered directly to Lab 8.
