Please let us know your concerns, Elizabeth ------------------------------------------------------------------------- STUD LOCATIONS: JIA LI: has put DXF and DWG files of the updated ICD stud locations on atlas2.phy.bnl.gov . These drawings will also be put on his web page. As of the last iteration, the ICD and FPS stud locations overlapped by 4mm since they were at the same phi. In order to avoid the overlap, Jia Li proposes that rather than a single inner stud between adjacent modules, we go back to two studs straddling the ICD module boundary line (and the FPS rib studs and bosses). ICD group requests that these new fixtures be nuts (bosses) on the EC (rather than studs) since it will probably be easier to use a screwdriver in this area rather than a wrench. Jia Li should have a design for the support brackets early next week which will include features which prevent lateral movement of the modules. JACK should include these inner ICD boss locations on the FPS stud/boss locating fixture. The 4 outer ICD studs per module will be located with a separate fixture referencing the inner bosses. The current design has 4 outer stud locations per module (2 outer studs for module support, 2 for cable stress relief bar) but these may change when final connector locations are determined. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- FPS CABLE ROUTING: ABID has generated a new cable routing plan for the FPS where cables run over the ICD tile modules. EG will fax them to A.White and J.Li. Here is a picture of an ICD tile module (dimensions are approximate and not to scale) inner width 32 cm (folded Al edge) /---------------------\ ^ / \ | bottom length / \ | 17.5 cm / BOTTOM \ | / \ | --------------------------------- V / cover inner width 38.5 cm \ / \ / \ / \ / \ cover length / \ 33.5 cm / COVER \ including the / \ tuck flap / \ / \ /-----------------------------------------------------\ cover outer width 51 cm The ICD group suggests that FPS cables be routed only on the bottom of the module, not on the cover (to avoid disturbing light tightness). Moreover, cable support fixtures should be located within about 12 cm of the inner edge or sides of the bottom of the box so that FPS cable weight does not distort the box in the middle. If the box is bowed even slightly, this could pull Tyvek wrapping away from the scintillator creating a nonuniform reflective surface. Andy determined this 12 cm based on the flexibility of the prototype aluminum box we have at UTA, which has all the features of the final design.
