------------------------------------------------------------------------ Minutes - ICD meeting Tuesday 24-NOV-1998 2 pm at UTA with FNAL (EG,LS) by phone Send comments/corrections to Elizabeth ------------------------------------------------------------------------- # ELIZABETH checked with Ed Podschweit on the status of the interface board that will allow us to test the drawer electronics and LED pulser in the light tight box of the cr teststand at Fermilab (DAB 3rd floor). It should be done sometime next week. Right now, there is full electronics for 2 of the six drawer channels. The interface board will have 1 hv (fanned out to 6 to 8 HV channels), 7 BNC connectors (6 for potential signal, 1 for potential PIN diode) 7 lemo (3 low voltage, 2 pulser, 1 for potential PIN diode) 1 26 conductor 3M connector Ed needs a 3M connector. Ed Will call Lee. Lee should send E the 3M part number for this socket with and without the tabs. # ELIZABETH has done an evaluation of fiber polishing techniques for the HP fiber that may be used in the MUON scintillator and ICD calibration systems. The teflon block technique failed, while ice polishing and the new Carl Lindenmeyer guillotine style single fiber polisher worked well on the HP fiber. The light mixing block should be ready for the test in the next few weeks. # The group discussed which types of cables should be used for the 12 channel test. For the High Voltage - use RG 58 or 59 (Kaushik will check and call back) Signal - ultimately will be on 26 conductor spectra-strip stock # 1170-057500 - the impedance is not in the stock catalog For the first drawer, the signal is on BNC output. the patch cable used to convert BNC to 26 conductor 3M connector should have the same impedance. If possible, use RG 174. low voltage - use RG 174 and lemo connectors # KAUSHIK - The PMT teststand will be modified to include the bases on daughtercards. LEE will send 3 tested bases to Kaushik along with a Run I electronics board (with the mating connector) and a few spare mating connectors. Full scale PMT testing cannot start until we have some idea of the variation in the base cards: - if the base variation is large, then bases and PMT's must be paired in testing and installation, - if the base variation is small, then PMT testing can proceed without base/PMT matching. # LEE is not happy with the bases received from Future Assembly because a number of pins have been bent and some bubbling is seen on some of the ground planes. He is considering other contractors. Not much is happening at LT this week due to quarter break. # LEE listed a number of changes he intends to make on the motherboard design including correcting the spacing between the 6 pmts (skewed to one side now). He also intends to shorten the board to ease assembly. Existing motherboard prototypes are workable for the 12 channels test. # Lee will re-order the 3m connectors for the signal cables. The ones he got do not have the mounting tabs. We need both types: - ones without mounting tabs to extend the cable and - ones with the mounting tabs for the drawer faces. # MARK was unavailable at meeting time to report on the fiber cable status or test stand status
