From: FNALD0::GALLAS "Elizabeth Gallas - UofTX Arlington" 11-FEB-1998 11:53:49.07 To: FNAL::MATESKI,FNAL::DFM,FNAL::HJS,CHRISTENSON,DEAN,MJOHNSON,FNAL::EOP CC: @ME:ICD_UP,GALLAS Subj: summary of the meeting under the pig trough - ICD PMT crate space Here is a summary of the meeting to go over space under the pig trough for the ICD PMT crate. In attendance: Del Miller, Herm Stredde, Jack Mateski, Elizabeth Gallas. There will be 4 ICD PMT crates, one under each pig trough. I will only talk about one, but remember there are 4 operationally identical units. The ICD PMT exterior crate dimensions are depth = 20 5/8" (x - horiz) height = 11" (y - vert) width nearly 31" (z - beam) Height and width are final and iron blocks have been machined and are currently being painted in Fort Worth TX. These dimensions have been reduced in depth by 1.25" in the electronics section of the Crate since the TDR. The crate will be mounted in x as close to the cryostat as possible, but additional reductions in the crate depth would ease the cabling at the drawer face, so dimensions are not final. JIA LI: please make the final drawings for the IRON BLOCK including the mouting bolt locations available from your web page. send a message to Jack MATESKI@fnal.gov and Elizabeth when this is done. Include a list of all completed drawings to date. Appendages to each ICD PMT Crate 1. FIBER CABLE STANDOFF A fiber cable standoff to protect the fiber cables/connectors coming off the side of the crate is being designed by Jia Li. The current dimensions of this appendage is z=2", y=11", x=8". There was no feeling that this 2" in z is a problem since the cables will need to come out roughly this distance anyway to get around the wall of the EC. 3. LOW VOLTAGE FANOUTS Lee Sawyer and Co (Louisiana Tech) are designing fanouts for the preamp low voltage supplies and the pulser. The total height available between the bottom of the pig trough and the top edge of the cable wider is about 15". So as previously discussed, these fanouts to be mounted underneath the crate, can occupy no more than 2 1/2" below the bottom of the crate. 3. HIGH VOLTAGE FANOUTS High voltage fanouts (Maryland Boxes) will be located to one side or the other (in z) of the PMT Crate, mounted below the pig trough. The current feeling on the crate location is closer to the CC to avoid interference with the bolts of the cable standoffs which constrain the cables in the cable winder. EG thinks that we currently have 96 HV lines coming in on 12 Reynolds cables. This means there are 6 MD boxes since (each with 2 reynolds ina and 16 single line hv out). We need the dimensions of these HV fanout boxes. HV plans are not complete and more time is required. CABLE SUMMARY TO EACH CRATE (yes we still need to report to Ed on details) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- SIGNAL - 16 26 LINE T&F (just like calorimeter cables) HV - 12 REYNOLDS (TOTAL OF 96 SINGLE HV) LV - 3 levels of lv needed (+ gnd?), but may be required to be carried on more lines due to safety requirements PULSER - unknown since pulser design undetermined - cabling is similar to LV needs with as many as 32 channels CALIBRATION - 2 options (monitoring lines and pulsers all LV): LASER - one fiber trunkline 3 or 4 lines for pin diode monitoring LED - one line to pulse one or more LEDs 3 or 4 lines for pin diode monitoring
