What to Do When...
A quench just happened:
Check together with the Captain the radiation levels reported by the ACNET. In the case that the levels were high, but no audible alarm went off in the Control Room, send an e-mail to the Radiation Monitor Expert with the time of the quench and the level of radiation reported by the BLMs (in the ACNET page).
-
Any instantaneus radiation over 2 Rad/s is considered high and should be reported to the radiation monitor expert by e-mail
-
If the radiation levels reported by the ACNET E16 page are above 6.4 Rad/sec, an ACNET alarm will be visible: one or more BLMs will be in the LAM state (red) instead of the normal EN (green) state. Please page the Radiation Monitor expert at (630) 218 9437.
An audible alarm (sonalert) went off in the Controll Room
-
Stop the alarm by pressing the "ACKNOWLEDGE" button, at the console of the SMT shifter. Then check the radiation levels at the ACNET console. This alarm is caused by a rolling integrated dose of over 40 Rads/minute (last modified on March 2, 2005 by M. Kirby). Please page the Radiation Monitor expert at (630)218 9437.
For more details about the alarms, look at Ron Lipton's
D0 Radiation Protection References
web page.
The Radiation Monitor Expert doesn't answer the page
- If the call to the primary pager doesn't get answered, please page Ron Lipton at (630)266 8242.
