Online Software

This page is under construction. However some preliminary information is given below.

A VME processor (Motorolla MVME2604 PPC) runs online software on VxWorks. Both the ADC and scaler output are monitored and channeled into EPICS. All variables for monitoring (temperature, radiation level, radiation dose) have been defined as global variables in VxWorks and are read out and archived through EPICS.

Temperature sensors

The temperature sensors will be read out and monitored through the EPICS system. Monitoring is done at about 1 Hz. EPICS will send an alarm when temperatures exceed a critical limit.

Slow monitoring

The current radiation level for all modules, both low- and high gain channels is being read out at a frequency of ~10Hz. The values are integrated over the shaping time (about 1s) on line (running integral). The levels are monitored through the EPICS system. Values are stored through EPICS channel archiver.

Integrated dose

The total dose is integrated on line. Low- and high gain channels are combined. The integrated dose is available through EPICS. Because the crate will run on an uninterruptable supply, the dose will keep counting even if D0 or EPICS go off line.

Fast beam dump map

The fast signals are read out at ~10kHz and stored locally in a 10s cyclic buffer. At an incomming trigger (from a beam abort or manual trigger), 2 more seconds are recorded; then the entire buffer is dumped into a file.
