Accessing Luminosity Information

Luminosity information is available for use in normalized analyses. The luminosity is integrated over the Luminosity Block and is reported by trigger name in inverse microbarns. This luminosity includes corrections for all sources of disable recorded by the Trigger Framework, losses in the DAQ, lost tapes/files, or failures in RECO. The luminosity files are currently cached on both d0mino and clued0 in /home/begel/stage2a. The current version is stage2a. There will be future, unannounced, changes in the stage2a files as we add new data and remove bad Luminosity Blocks. DO NOT MAKE PRIVATE COPIES OF THESE FILES! You need to use lm_access version v00-03-10 and lm_access_pkg version v00-01-00 with stage2 files.

The CVS package necessary to use this information with root-tuples (p10.07.01+) and thumbnails (p13.02.00+) is called lm_access. Currently use version v03-10 -00. Documentation is available via these web pages.

NOTE: You can normalize your data ONLY for good luminosity blocks. You MUST NOT include any data from bad luminosity blocks in your normalized analysis. The routines in lm_access allow you to cut data from bad LBNs. Do not make assumptions about the luminosity in bad LBNs since the dead time of this experiment fluctuates greatly on small and large time scales. LBN are also removed when the DAQ or trigger systems have misbehaved. These are the so-called "bad runs" for the DAQ and trigger systems.

Send any questions or comments to d0luminosity@fnal.gov. The Luminosity ID group requests that you present your normalized results at our group meetings.
