DØ Run II Cosmic Ray Commissioning Beam Counter (Week of 1/10/2000)

Herman Haggerty with the short (1.2m x 4.1cm x 4.1cm) beam counter for DØ Run II cosmic ray Commissioning.   This counter will be eventually replaced with a longer (2.5m x 4.1cm x 4.1cm) counter.
Herman Haggerty installing the HV for a beam counter PMT inside the solenoid.

We are using Run II m HV control System for these two PMT's and Muon scintillation counters!!

Beam counter is INSTALLED on Jan. 12, 2000, in its position, in the middle of the detector. Coincidence of the two end PMT signals is formed to reduce random noise trigger.   This coincidence forms another conicidence with TOP cosmic cap to contrain cosmic ray to the beam line.

By design of the stand, the counter cannot go any where else than at the center on r-f plane.
