DØ Current Daily Run Plan

The Run Plan can be found at http://www-d0.fnal.gov/runcoor/runplans/runplan.html

Note: The Run Plan has been split into the Current Daily plan and a separate page with the Standard Instructions. Please read both carefully and report any discrepancies.

The Run Plan Standard Instructions can be found at http://www-d0.fnal.gov/runcoor/runplans/runplan_standard.html

This run plan covers:

From : Owl shift Aug 9, 2001
Through: Eve shift Aug 9, 2001
Magnet configuration:
Toroid: Forward
Solenoid: Forward

The Captain's binder and instructions have been worked on by many people and has improved....but there is always room for improvement. While on shift with no beam or during quiet periods, Captain's can assist in updating the documentation in the Captain binder. Please try and clean out obsolete instructions and update or create new instructions if they do not exist. If there are questions about some of the material, please send mail to Leslie.

The Tevatron is cold and expects to do beam studies all night, with shot setup starting at 7am.

Check the Standing Instructions for updated luminosity HV and monitoring procedures and instructions.

For the OWL shift. Put all available crates in the global run and run with the proton-halo trigger if there is beam in the Tevatron. Otherwise use the cosmics trigger (preferably) or the zero-bias trigger. Push the data rates up to see how far we can get before L3 or the DAQ gets in trouble. All crates (including SMT) should be in sparse/zero suppressed mode.

For the DAY shift: Prepare for the store. For the beginning of the store it would be useful to have all detectors in, with all available crates, in sparse mode to collect some colliding data. If detectors want to do special studies (timing etc) contact the Commissioning Coordinators so we can schedule them.

For the startup of data taking, we will run the same configuration file we were using before the shutdown. Click on the links for details. The default trigger configuration file for collisions is global_L1CalMuon-1.2.xml. This trigger file emphasizes muon triggers and some high Et jet and EM triggers. The rates should be kept in the range as indicated in the prescale file global_L1CalMuon-1.2-4e30_6Hz.prescales but can probably be tuned to achieve 10-15Hz. The prescale files is tuned expecting about 4E30 so will need to be tuned to achieve the desired rate. There is a lower luminosity trigger file also available (1E30).

DAQ Shifters should set prescales to maintain the desired data rates as specified in the trigger files. Captains should check to make sure the rates make sense and are within the desired ranges. Contact the Trigger Meisters or the Commissioning Coordinators if there are problems.
