DØ Current Daily Run Plan

The Run Plan can be found at http://www-d0.fnal.gov/runcoor/runplans/runplan.html

The Run Plan Standard Instructions can be found at

For the remaining stores until the shutdown the goal is stable, global data taking. No changes to detectors, electronics, software/software parameters should be done without specific approval of the Run Coordinator. Downtime should be minimized to fixing serious problems which prevent data taking. Captains are charged with enforcing this goal.

This run plan covers:

From : Eve shift Sep 29, 2001
Through: Eve shift Sep 30, 2001

Current Situation and Plans

Current Magnet configuration:

Toroid: Reverse
Solenoid: Forward

Shot setup expected Sat night after the controlled access. Goals for the beginning of the shift are to get to stable data taking with as many of the crates as possible, with the caveat that unstable crates should be removed from the run and the experts contacted.

Priorities for the current Store

Priorities when NOT in Store

  • Scott Snyder has identified a memory leak in COOR but will not release a fix for the next few weeks as he will be out of the country. The suggestion is to restart COOR once every day or two.
  • Allow detector experts to work on their crates.
  • Cosmic Ray runs if no beam. Halo runs if there is a proton or anti-proton only store.
  • Ensure detectors take decent calibration files in preparation for collisions.

There are (temporary) instructions from Moacyr Souza <moacyr@fnal.gov> on restarting the L3 monitor that feeds information to the DAQ monitor display if the process hangs. If the information is not updating in the Level 3 page of the DAQ display:

This should restart the server.

General note for special runs: Experts need to be identified for any special run and should provide a means of contact (pager preferably). If there is trouble starting up a special run and experts cannot be located or contacted, then the run should be put "on hold" until further notice by the Commissioning coordinators.

For no colliding beam these are the trigger files:
Cosmics cosmics-1.0.xml
Zero-bias zero_bias_only-1.3.xml
Proton store proton_halo_only-1.2.xml
Anti-proton store pbar_halo_only-1.2.xml

Shift Captains must make a SAM dataset for good runs at the END OF EVERY SHIFT. Use the SAM dataset web page (see the Standing Instructions for details).

Note to Captains: The Operations Technicians are taking care of the safety walk through represented on the 3rd page of the Captain's checklist. Captains are still responsible for safety walkthroughs on the first two pages including the 2nd floor of the Fixed Counting House. Heidi Schellman has put together a very useful Pictorial Guide to components in the Control Room and in DAB.
