DØ Current Daily Run Plan
The Run Plan can be found at

The Run Plan Standard Instructions can be found at

The current Beams Division
schedule can be found on the web.
This run plan covers:
- From : OWL shift Dec 2, 2001
- Through: EVE shift Dec 3, 2001
Magnet configuration (check magnet orientation instructions in the Standard
Plan) :
- Toroid: On Forward
- Solenoid: On Reverse
Current Situation and Plans
The Beams Division is planning to stack and store for the next few days.
No planned accesses unless there are problems with the machines.
The main task of the shift crew is to collect data in stable runs. Maximum
input rate into Level 3 will be dictated by stable running; the Trigger
Mesiters will help determine this at the beginning of stores.
By default, all crates should be included in global runs unless
experts have removed them. Experts should be contacted if there are problems
with any of the readout crates.
The major shift tasks are:
- Keep DAQ running collecting colliding beam data and cosmics or
beam halo data. Recording must
be kept ON for all runs.
- All test runs and trigger configurations must be stopped and freed
during global data taking with colliding beam, unless specifically approved.
- Include all front-end and readout crates in the data taking; experts have
to be called in the case of problems.
Detector experts should clearly indicate the status of crates
on the white board in the Control Room.
- Conduct Captain and DAQ shifter walkthroughs, fill check lists and
report all problems to experts.
- Run all detectors at full voltages (beam conditions permitting).
- Monitor beam losses and silicon radiation doses.
- Help experts with short controlled accesses.
- Run all detector Examines under Detector shifter control. Report any
problems to the subdetector coordinators.
- Run DØ event display
- When there is no beam, calibration runs should be taken. These runs
should be coordinated with the DAQ shifter.
- Captains are reminded that they are responsible for creating shiftsets
for data to be reprocessed on the farms.
- People have requested that the shift summary report still be mailed to
d0shifters, as well as posting on D0news. If many people on d0shifters
do not wish to see this, we will setp up a separate mailing list.
Any work that will be disruptive to
others (e.g. DAQ system tests,
L3 tests, TFW work, sDAQ etc.) needs to be agreed to and scheduled by the
Commissioning Coordinators or Run Coordinators. Send mail to
d0runrequests@fnal.gov.
Also the shift captain and DAQ shifter must be kept informed of any work.
For colliding beam, the default file is:
global_CalMuon-2.0.xml
with the appropriate prescale files (currently 3E30). See the Trigger Meister
comments in the trigger file.
For cosmic ray running there are two files:
cosmics-1.1.xml - does not include the L2 crates
cosmics-1.2.xml - contains the L2 crates in non-readout mode
For proton-only beam running:
proton_halo_only-1.2.xml
Planned Special Runs or Activities
See the Special Run Request Binder for details
Special runs need approval by the Run Coordinator, the Trigger Meisters
and the Trigger Board chairs. Forms are available in the Special Run Requests
binder in the control room.
