One of the new features is an automatic logbook entry at the beginning and the end of a run. The logged information includes the shifter name, the start/end time, the run number, crate configuration, etc. You have probably seen these entries made by the operator "coor" over the past few days. As this act is automatic for each and every run, there is no longer any need to drag and drop the Begin Run/End Run inserts into the logbook. To be clear, I am referring to the small icons on the right hand side of the DAQ Shift logbook which we have been using to signify the begin and end of an official DAQ run. This action is no longer needed, as coor does it for us automatically. It is still important to provide information to the taker at the start of a run: 1) Shifter name 2) Begin Run Comment, e.g. added/removed crate, reset L3, changed prescales, etc. 3) Data type: Physics, test, etc. as well as when you stop a run: 1) End Run Comment => This comment should briefly explain WHY the run was stopped. 2) Data quality: Good, Uncertain or Useless All of this information is passed to the database, as well as included in the logbook, automatically, but only if you complete the taker start/stop run fields. You should still continue to make additional log entries which characterize the run including rate, DAQ stability, "missing" or "late" crate frequency, etc. The bar graph display can provide you information on the latter. As usual, please continue to archive entries throughout your shift. We can use the time stamp to track a particular situation or run. Cheers, Alan
