Current Situation and Plans
There is a
Calorimeter Noise Study scheduled for the
end of Store 1957. The Shift Captain should coordinate with
the experts - Nirmalya & Leslie - and MCR.
- There is a scheduled 4 hour period of quiet time and
controlled access (per CDF request) to begin about 12:00 Tue
Nov 12. Any CA jobs should be placed on the whiteboard.
- From Tues Nov 12 eve through Tues Nov 19 owl, the Tevatron will be in Stack 'n Store mode.
Shot setups will be determined by stack size, preferably >140 mA and
by the
Accelerator Operations status.
- There will be about five shifts of beams studies, likely to begin
on the day shift of Tue Nov 19.
- Joe Kozminski would like to do L1 CAL noise studies & rate tests between stores.
He wants to be notified shortly before stores are about to
end between the hours of 06:00-23:00 - if there will be at least
an hour with no beam in the Tevatron. His email address is jkozmins@fnal.gov,
his office number is x3983, and his home number is in the call list.
- Only the DAQ Shifter should issue the SCLinits during global physics data taking,
with the exception of clearing Muon Readout errors (MDT crate going out-of-sync OR
L2 missing PDT input). In an effort to reduce the overall deadtime - muon
readout errors can be detected and cleared more quickly by the Muon Shifter
than with intervention from the DAQ Shifter - the Muon
Shifter will issue SCL inits, document them and provide the DAQ Shifter with a summary
of Muon required sclinits at the end of the shift.
- If any of the
CFT or L1CTT crates - x13,x50,x51,x52,x53 - exhibit 100% L1 FEB, the DAQ Shifter
should NOT issue a SCL init. Instead, inform the CFT shifter who has
a specific instruction set to follow.
- Stu Fuess and Jim Fitzmaurice will be replacing many of the nodes at the
consoles throughout the Control Room over the next few weeks, beginning
with L2, Lumi and L3, followed by FPD, DAQ and CFT. The work will be timed
to minimize disruption of
normal activities, including data taking. Also, the Ops crew will be installing
mounts for flat screens similar to the SMT console. If their work appears to
be disruptive at a given time, let them know.
- The Shift Captain should call the MCR at the beginning of each shift
and as needed to keep up with dynamic schedule of the Tevatron.
The MCR may give D0 quiet time or a Controlled Access (CA). Page
Dmitri Denisov for CA approval. See the whiteboard for CA requests.
Read the
D0 Logbook before your shift in order to be better prepared!
