In cosidernig the CVS system and esp after our endorsement of the emacs editor we should note that there exists a very useful (and free) software by the Signum Support AB (the same one as for CVS) which is basically an emacs front end to CVS which is called pcl-cvs. It is sort of like a CVS emacs major mode. In case we would consider using CVS pcl-cvs could be a very good replacement and enhacement to some of Harrisons beta utilities which deal with the library elements (not the distribution) themself (cmsupdate, cmsfetch and the like).
