Minutes of STT meeting 18 August 2000

Agenda:

People present at meeting:
Yi Dai, John Hobbs, Stephan Linn, Jim Linnemann (via video-link), Meenakshi Narain, Georg Steinbrueck (via video-link), Silvia Tentindo-Repond, Wendy Taylor, Horst Wahl

Minutes:

  1. STT simulator status [Steve Linn]
    Steve is implementing clustering algorithm "2" in the simulator (the one coded in the STC firmware);
    simulator code has been released (#108), but has some problems;

  2. test vectors [Meenakhsi Narain]
    Meenakshi and Evgeny Popkov have generated test vectors for both clustering and hitfilter, and sent them to Shweta Lolage at FSU.

  3. CPU's:
    (message from Bill Lee)
    I have sent the CPU that was borrowed from Fritz to Boston.
    The institutions that are going to want CPU's for testing (this includes Boston, since Fritz will want his CPU back in several months) need to go ahead and purchase them.
    Please have them contact me next week for details, but I would like to see three purchase orders by the end of next week.
    These processors need to come to me at FNAL. I will get adapter cards added, test the adapter card, and then ship them to the appropriate locations.
    Processors to be bought are MVME2302 (see Motorola Website for information about Motorola MVME 2300 series).

  4. LUT status
    (message from Bill Lee:) He is working on getting LUT's generated, starting from Sailesh's code; will have something by next meeting.

  5. beam spot monitoring plans [Yi Dai]
    Yi Dai gave a general introduction to the beam monitoring and feedback issue (see Yi Dai's transparencies). In the tests in run I, CDF used a devoted Alpha station to determine beam parameters, with updating every three minutes.
    Note: we could use L3 tracks, so would not have to repeat reconstructing tracks.
    Question about storage of beam information in data base: Meenakshi says that Ela and Taka have defined this already -- Yi Dai to check with them.
    Latest information from Paul Derwent:
    max. position correction with correction dipoles is +- 1.1 mm, max. angular correction +- 1.5 mrad.
