10% test SMT Examine GUI


10% test GUI is the tool to create the configuration files cfg.dat, translation.map and RCP files needed by SMT Examine. In the real experiment one global configuration will be used. On the 10% test stend one tests different configurations, therefore one need different configuration files.

10% test GUI examine.tcl written in TCL/TK.
It consists of control pannel where user can specify the CrateID and choose the VRB to be configured.

How to setup SMT Examine:

1. Click on VRB# button, where # is the number of VRB you'd like to setup.
2. Select the type of HDIs connected to VRB (ladder,f-wedge,h-wedge)

3. In the next window specify the chains where HDIs is connected to and select the HDI type (L3,L6,L9,FW6,FW8,HW6). There is also option 'ON' which tells Examine to use local translation map.



4. Click 'setup VRB'
5. Do steps 1-4 for each VRB you have HDIs connected to.
5. Click "Histos and I/O setup" button to setup histograms modes and I/O files. Histograms modes explaned here.



6. Set USE ROOT to TRUE if you'd like Examine to create histograms in Root format. Otherwise histograms will be created in HBOOK format.
7. Other options:
                                         Net mode - data will be taken from the Data Distributor
                                         File mode - data will be taken from local file
8. Press 'Save Config' to save configuration files
9. Press 'Start Examine'
10. Press 'Exit' to stop SmtExamine

Examine will create configuration files: cfg.dat, translation map and smt_examine.rcp. It also will change read_event and smtraw RCPs. After that setup window will iconify and Examine will start.
