Title: Fiber Tracking in DZero Link to paper if available: Session of First Preference: Detector Developments Session of Second Preference: LP Session: Not to be submitted. Abstract: The challenging luminosity anticipated for the Tevatron Run II has required that the DZero detector undertake a massive upgrade. One of the more innovative portions of this upgrade is the replacement of its traditional drift chamber-based tracker with one that utilizes scintillating fiber and Visible Light Photon Counter (VLPC) readout. Such a detector provides fast triggering and good single-hit position resolution. All components of this detector have been scrutinized through quality control checks throughout the assembly process. Sufficient information now exists to provide guidance to other experiments considering a similar detector. In this talk, we will present the results of a careful study of over 100,000 VLPC detectors and a cosmic ray study of several thousand fibers. The results of our continuing studies of the detector in the collider environment will also be presented. Submitted: 9 April 2001
