Issues for Muon Mini-Workshop (Dec. 19-21, 1998)
Discussions of Hardware Status
- Couple of talks from hardware people
Raw Data Format
- We need to have Monte Carlo data in exactly the same format as the
real data. So we need to convert MC hits information into ADC and TDC
counts i.e., as electronic data.
- Need update and discussion on Raw data unpacking
Realistic Simulation
- We need realistic smearing of the hits in digitization(MuoDigi).
Get the latest measurments from Haggerty, Sten and Marshall and
implement the parametrization
- Other MC issues?
Muon Geometry
- It looks like geometry is almost bug-free for PDTS. Need to
continue the meticulous work on the sub-systems. My hope is that
Nemat can work on Pixels and A-Phi's through the workshop. Rick,
Vladimir and Andrzej continue the good work on MDTS. So, I'll keep my
fingers crossed and expect to be done with Geometry before Christmas!
- The 20 um discrepancy we now have between GEANT and Geometry is still
too much! Is it due to different methodology in Euler angle calculations
adopted in the two cases?
- What about NIKHEF's fixes for Muon Geometry to work on NT?
Muon Detector/Event Display
- Can we have ARVE-based package working on d0chb?
- Make progress at the workshop on Open Inventor package. Either
implement event display in WAMUS or implement detector display of
FAMUS.
MuReco
- Fixes needed for Linux and NT versions
- We should revisit naming conventions for classes, methods and
attributes, and make appropriate changes.
Fast Segment Finding
- Preliminary version of segment finder in the WAMUS A layer by the
end of the workshop. This will be then extended to B and C layers for
December milestone.
Level-3
- Understand the raw data structure. Look at the patterns of raw data
hits and develop algorithms to discriminate single hits from multiple
hits.
- Learn about L3 framework and start work on interface to implement
tools.
Muon ID
- Discussion on status of TRF++ tracking in WAMUS and FAMUS
- Discussion on muon object classes and methods
Any additions, deletions and suggestions are welcome.
