This document outlines steps for the analysis of the muon alignment survey data as discussed between Al Ito and Andrzej Zieminski. 1. Phase I : relative alignment of the 4 - alignment holes / PDT and tooling balls; The data for 94 PDTs has been collected and put into the ORACLE data base. Al Ito will provide an interface between ORACLE DB and Ascii files. The format of ASCII files will be close to the one used by W. Smart in his CMABC.DAT files. In particular, information on chamber orientation will be provided/updated. Also Al may consider adding extra words per line to specify the object and to indicate special circumstances of the measurement. A warning on TWISTEd chambers will be retained. 2. Transformation of the PHASE I data: The PHASE II alignment needs PHASE I data in the approximate GLOBAL coordinate system. The transformation parameters can be deduced from the nominal position of the chamber in the GLOBAL CS. This work can start immediately. Some of Wes Smart's program could be used after small modifications. One has to pay attention to the chamber orientation. Andrzej will verify this process for some unmodified chambers. Al will inspect the RCP file used in the Run II Geant and geometry. 3. Phase II : survey to be done: The output of the Phase II photographic surveyer will be an EXCEL file with x,y,z coordinates of 4 to 8 tooling balls / chamber and 2 * 8-12 reference points on the steel. The coordinate system will be close to the GLOBAL CS for all 7 moving blocks (including the platform). Hopefully we will have PHASE II test data for one of the chambers before mid June. The work on the FCN fitter can start immediately. None of Smart's routines is easily adaptable. The code has to be written from scratch. However, it should be simpler than for run I, where 4 surveying techniques were used. 4. Phase III stage has not been discussed.
