The X-ray run data was obtained from the fiber1
PC's directory and
placed on the CFT d0mino project disk at:
for analysis.
In general, there are several X-ray runs taken on a given ribbon (runs a,b,c,d,.....). The first run, "a", is usually just at one position to see if the system is working. The next run, "b", is either at 6, 10, or 20 positions along the ribbon. I obtained the mounting status of the ribbons from Gaston Gutierrez.

All of the fit peaks in the 16 PMT's data were sorted in a list and then fit to a line and the RMS of the residual distribution recorded, see the table below. There are a few ribbons (yellow if 50 to 60 microns, red if larger) which have a bigger RMS than the design specification; Erik is going to cross-check the RMS of these ribbons as measured from previous QC analysis to see how they compare to my numbers below. Further, it must also be checked if the really bad ribbons correspond to X-ray runs in which the X-ray test stand was not correctly set up. Note: my calculation of the RMS would be sensitive to dead or damaged fibers anywhere except on the edge of the ribbons because I put the fibers in an ordered list.
May 25: Erik cross-checks his numbers and says that my RMS for some of the ribbons are way too big, so I really must allow for dead and missing fibers.

I define a problem fiber as one that has lost
at least 1/3 of its relative light output at some point along
its length. (There are many fibers with light loss of around
20% or so, and therefore not listed.)
I've identified which fiber number has a light transmission problem, about
where along the length it occurs and whether the loss is greater than 2/3
(i.e. it is essentially dead).
I identify fiber numbers in opposite directions for stereo
ribbons than for axial ribbons. if you look at the face of
the connector, with concavity up, then fiber #1 is at the
left side for axial ribbons and at the right side for stereo
ribbons. This opposite orientation makes fiber counting the
same in the phi direction on the tracker so it is not without
merit.
There are a total of 87 problem fibers (or about .1%),
and only 7 that should be considered completely dead.
