Progress Report from the Mechanical/Shield Group Mar. 12, 2003

* The next meeting is Mar. 26th at 9:30 AM in the Fermilab cafeteria
  The following meeting is Apr. 9th at 9:30 AM in the TBD. 

* Shield and Cold Plate Engineering and Integration  

  Tom Peterson has been importing the very latest 3D models from LBL into 
  Solidworks. He commented on the apparent state of the integration 
  model for thermal coupling of the cold plate to the radiator. He 
  noted that the model shows that some satellite components appear
  to be large/massive enought to contribute to the overall shielding.
  He will use Solidworks to identify those components most relevant
  and to determine their size and material.
 
  Investigation continues on how to make a materials projection in 3D.

* Shielding Simulation

  Fritz Dejongh is studying the report by Mike Lampton and following up 
  on the links therein.  He is working on the Spenvis simulation.  

  Igor continues to work on incorporating heavy ions into Mars. 

  Tom D. will be away the next week but plans to read the update to the 
  Mars manual while gone.
