D0 2 on 2 Sand Volleyball Tournament Guidelines International rules have lightened up. So should we. To register a team, send email containing the names of 2 eligible participants to Elizabeth Gallas at eggs@fnal.gov Safety RULES: 1. For safety, touching the net is NOT allowed at ANY time. 2. You may go under the net if you do not interfere with any player on the other side. Other guidelines: 3. You can hit the ball with ANY part of your body. 4. You can serve from anywhere behind the back line. 5. 'LET' SERVES ARE GOOD (serves that touch the net and land in the opponent's court) 6. Otherwise: Play according to your own standards ! - All hits (bumps, sets, spikes) should be a single instantaneous contact but in this tournament, that judgment is in the opinion of the player making it (not their finicky opponent). - Double instantaneous contacts are allowed on the serve receive or on a driven (spiked) ball (for example: the ball hits your foot then your face is OK and counts as 1 hit). Games will be played to 11 points (must win by 2 or more points) OR winner is whoever is the first with 13 points. Normal (not speed) scoring: points are scored only by the serving team. Change sides every 4 points if either team feels there is any good/bad side. This is a double elimination tournament. Once you lose twice, you are eliminated. Please arrive between 4:30 and 4:40pm. When your teammate arrives, both of you must immediately sign in on the sign-up sheet. Games begin at 4:45. The schedule is very tight ! If you are not there by your first game, you lose or are eliminated. Try to start games on time and keep the game moving. If there is some controversy (line call etc), then play the point over. If you are between games, go to the court where your next game is scheduled and help the teams playing by fetching balls and helping the ref make line calls. Winners of each game are responsible for reporting the results to the north court referee who has the master score sheet immediately after each game. Meet in the users center afterwards to help the winners put down their free pitcher of beer. Food while it lasts. Once registered, PLEASE let me know if you chicken out so that the schedule can be adjusted appropriately or to give others a chance to play. Thanks and good luck, Elizabeth
