Top Group, L2, and You
The L2 Filter group is trying to get the physics groups to take on some of the responsibilities (there is some information on d0news about all of this) and tasks that it used to do. These inlcude checking that proposed changes to the l2 executable are copacetic, debuging of crashing tools, and testing of new tools before they are added to the l2 executable. The L2 group will continue to do the final verification of the l2 executable.The verification is done by running the L2 simulator (some hints on doing this) with some standard Monte Carlo data sets, and verifying the results in the various top analysises (Terry Geld takes care of this). I have also collected some debugging information that people may find helpful.
Recent Developments:
- A bug was discovered in the way the L2 trigger calculated the phi,eta center for L1 large tile triggers. This may affect turnon for some triggers (more info in the mail message). This bug is reproduced by the current version of the simulator, by the way (according to Nikos).
- 7.15 is the most recent version, and is expected to run at the start of Run Ic.
- Backfitting versions 6.11, 7.08, 7.15 of the simulator is finished. All should run on compressed zebra files and known bugs in the l1 cal simulator have been fixed.

Due to disk space limitations, the L2 group is removing old versions of executable.

You can find the most recent postscript version of the trigger in d0$l2beta:[configs.run1b_glb]. In the same area you can find .txt files describing the trigger version history and the l2 exe version history by date and run number (these are local copies). I also have a local copy of the L2 Exe version history.
