Brian's update - Thurs./Fri. Dear Friends and family, Yesterday was a wonderful day at the hospital! I (Sara Burke) went over to the hospital from 6:30-3:30. Brian has been receiving low levels of chemotherapy all week just to see how his body reacts. So, he was feeling terrific all day. He walkded around for the first time in about 10 days. He even was able to go down to the playroom for over an hour. It was nice to see him back to his normal lively self. Aunt Sara and I had a good time spending time with Brian as well as each other. I went home when when Susan came over after work. When Aunt Susan came he played catch, cards, and sang songs. Uncle Denny stayed with Brian while Susan, Sara, and Diane (a family friend) went to dinner. Brian and Denny played and read stories. Brian giggled, and laughed, and even got a little rowdy. We took many pictures of this blessed day. It brought us all such peace to see him "normal" for the first time since this journey began. On Friday I went to the hospital again from 6:30-3:45. It was a very busy day. Brian had a bone marrow biopsy at 8:30. We are hoping that the numbers have improved, but we won't receive the results until Monday. They also did a CT scan and a bone scan(which we've been waiting for all week). We've wanted the bone scan to give us a base line of what we're up against. These results will also be ready on Monday. Brian spent most of the day in and out of procedures and slept, or was under anasthetics, all day. Aunt Sara spent a lot of time learning to draw bloood and change the broviac tube - these things will need to be done daily when he gets home. Susan arrived after work to relieve me from my "shift". She will be spending the night with Brian so that Sara, Stan and Steven can go out to dinner and have a night together at Family House. She will also be spending the night Saturday and come home on Sunday. Steven will go home on Sunday to be with Rick. David flies in from LA Saturday afternoon. He and I will take hospital duty on Sunday. We are developing a schedule so someone is helping 24 hours a day for the next two weeks. Fortunately Susan, David and I will be on holiday from work and school for these next two weeks. We are blessed by all of your prayers and support. The Lord is blessing all our lives every minute of this journey. We are overwhelmed by blanket of love that has surrounded us. It has given us strength that is astonishing! Thank you. We love you all. Happy Holidays!:) Love, Sara
