Subject: Tuesday night--Brian's on the way back to S.F. Tuesday night 1/20 Dear Friends and Family, Brian has not been able to keep down any food or liquids. He has been vomiting up everything that hits his stomach---which as it turns out is everything. I gave you somew inaccurate information. Sara is NOT able to give him medicine through his broviac. She is delivering food, hydration and all medicines through his NG tube. So it is all hitting his stomach and coming back up. They all did sleep last night. But as soon as Brian woke up and moved, the vomiting started. Doctors say this is normal reaction to chemo. There is concern that he will get dehydrated and start losing more weight; therefore, they were tolds to return tonight and not to wait until morning. There is another Burkitt's patient at UCSF who came in a few days before Brian. Andrew is 3. He has been breezing through his chemo. He is not stage 4. His is not in his bone marrow like Brian's---Andrew's cancer is less severe. He was home and the same thing happened to him and now he is in intensive care. They decided not to let Brian stay home as long with these symptoms. He does not want to return to the hospital, but Sara has explained to him that she cannot care for him at home anymore right now. He still is not in pain from the mucousitis. Wouldn't it be grand if his case of mucuositis is more mild this time? A Brian Web Site is currently in the making! Will let you know when it is ready to be accessed. It will have photos and information about all the names and people that keep getting mentioned in these updates! It may make these letters clearer to those of you who do not know the Warne family. I especially want you to see photos of Brian. We keep trying to guess what will happen next---like how long he will be in the hospital, but as you know we have no answers. Maybe Brian will make it home again next weekend. Please pray that the doctors can get his vomiting under control and that he starts keeping his food and liquids down. Pray that he responds quickly to hospital care and gets a good night's sleep. Sara will be with him tonight. Stan needs to return to Santa Rosa tonight and go to work tomorrow. I will go to the hospital about 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. Yes, I am feeling ok. Not contagious anymore! I'll relieve Sara so she can go to Happy House to rest. I know she'll need it. Pray for Sara and Stan to find strength and comfort as they try so hard to care for their child. Love, Susan
