Subject: Monday-Brian's update Monday 1/26 Dear Friends and Family, Brian's condition continues to go down. He still has fevers, itching and mucousitis. He did not sleep last night;therefore, neither did Sara. She was very weary all day. Rick Hahn (her pastor from Sebatopol) came to give her a break. She didn't sleep, but she did get out of the room for a while and go to Happy House. She ate some good food for lunch and got extra food for dinner. The hospital food is pretty creepy and the places across the street close early and are hard to get to when you are alone with Brian. Rick's prayers and Bible study helped Sara work through her frustration with this difficult situation. Sara is being so wonderfully strong, but she is very tired. She has many more days in the hospital before this is over. Sara biggest problem tonight is fatigue. Going without sleep at night catches up with you fast. Diane is going to do the night shift tonight so Sara can go to Happy House. When Brian is feeling so bad, he doesn't sleep very much. He cries and whines and talks a lot. We still have not found something that will put him to sleep. When he hurts, he gets more morphine. We are happy that he is not in constant pain; we do wish he could sleep at night. Stan is returning to the hospital from work tomorrow night. He's working today and tomorrow. He'll do the night on Tuesday. Staying with Brian all day and then all night is very hard. Brian is still being grumpy with Sara and crying around her more than with other people. A hospital psychologist visited Brian twice today. He will try to help Brian deal with his anger and sadness---especially his anger directed towards his mom. Brian really likes him and it appears that he will be able to help the family. Brian got a platelet transfusion today. They are culturing his broviac every 12 hours to check for infection. He has been getting fevers during the day and at night. Last time he only got fevers at night. Pray for rest for the Warne family. Pray that Brian does not get an infection. Pray that Brian has a more restful day tomorrow. Pray that we do get to move into the new wing on Wed. Love, Susan
