Subject: Magician made Brian laugh! Sunday evening 2/22 Dear Friends and Family, Funny Bones, magician/clown, gave Brian an hour of laughs and smiles today. He did tricks---used Steven as his assistant. Steven shared his magic trick with Funny Bones. Funny Bones made crazy hats for Brian and Steven and did balloon tricks for them. His colorful costume and gentle manner won Brian's love! Brian said, "You're funny. I want you to come everyday!" Funny Bones promised to return next month to visit Brian. And he promised to do a show for Brian and his friends in Santa Rosa when Brian is well. We got some fabulous photos! Will share them on the Web Site. Brian's fever returned yesterday afternoon and is still with him. Tylenol takes it down for a while, but it keeps going back up. His stomach and neck still hurt. Morphine still helps. He is not feeling great at all. Yesterday Denny, Brian and I had a few hours of "fun". We read books, played Bingo, number games and played with little figures from McDonald's. He napped off and on during the day and demanded "Quiet!". He was alternately grumpy and charming. He felt the same way today. He yelled "Quiet!" several times during Funny Bones visit, but settled down each time once it got quiet. Brian was not able to sit up very much at all. He watched Funny Bones while hugging his "puke bowl" with his head on his pillow. Funny Bones did a beautiful job adjusting to the difficulties of our sick child. A conversation with his mom yesterday: "Is Tylenol the purple stuff? (Yes.) I'm not going to take it anymore. I want you (Mom) to take it for me. I'll puke it up, if you make me take it. I'm the boss around here and I don't have to take it. I don't want to die. I changed my mind. I don't want to see what God looks like. I already saw him in my Bible." His Nurse came in and said, "I just gave you some benadryl for your tummy." Brian yelled joyously, "Lucky me! I don't have to take the yucky medicine!" Sadly his enthusiasm was short-lived and he did have to take the yucky medicine. While visiting Brian, one can sense his frustration at feeling so bad for so long. He tries to act "normal", but he just can't. We are waiting to find out if chemo will start tomorrow as scheduled. His white blood counts are good enough, but he still has fevers. I just talked to Stan. No chemo tomorrow. They will evaluate Brian condition and then make decisions about the week. Sara got a migraine tonight and is feeling very sick. Please pray once again that Brian's fevers can be eliminated. Pray that he has a peaceful night. Pray that Sara's migraine goes away and she feels better quickly. Love, Susan
