Subject: Brian is still home--feeling good! Thursday, May, 21, 1998 Brian's website: http://www-d0.fnal.gov/~hanlet/Brian/brian.html Dear Friends and Family, Yes, we are still here. I have been waiting for Brian to return to the hospital to send an up-date. BUT he is STILL home! And he is feeling good. He was in S.F. for chemo May 11th to 13th. He's been home ever since. His blood counts are now zero, but he has not spiked a fever. Sara is keeping him isolated from everyone but family. He is most vunerable to infection right now. We had expected him to start spiking fevers 2 days ago. We've been told that patients get sick 7 to 10 days after the chemo ends. Brian has never lasted 7 days. Sat. will be day 10 for him. We expect he'll be in the hospital this weekend. He does not have mucousitis yet either. Just wanted you to know that I have not forgotten to do up-dates. It is wonderful to have such good news. Praises to our Heavenly Father for giving Brian these days of feeling good at home. He asked today if the cancer would come back. Sara told him that it might. He said, "If it does come back, I'll make those doctors give me some really good medicine next time." Brian and his family will be attending a "Relay for Life" in Alameda later this month. Teams walk the high school track for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research and cancer programs. We hope Brian will be up to walking a lap with the survivors of cancer. Many people who have been praying for Brian will be participating in this walk. Again thank you for your continued prayer support. How thankful we are to have you in our lives. Love, Susan
