Muon Data and Detector Monitoring

D. Hedin 5-22-00

EXAMINE will be used to monitor the performance of the muon detector elements and trigger, and to do calibration (at least to begin with). Example code exists for all raw data types. Code development over Summer 2000 will include:

  • unpack and correlate ADC information
  • unpack and correlate pin diode data
  • develop utilities to more easily obtain: a) both PMT times; b) all the hits in a given module or SFE card
  • calibration procedures
  • unpack trigger data
  • incorportae hits and segment histograms
  • perhaps preliminary efficiency calculations

    Documentation exists in

  • www-d0.fnal.gov/hardware/upgrade/muon_upgrade/online.html for online procedures (HV, event display, EXAMINE, calibration)
  • www-d0.fnal.gov/hardware/upgrade/muon_upgrade/calibration/LED_pulser/mucal_home.html for scintillator calibration system
  • www-d0.fnal.gov/~hedin/performance.html for performance summary including typical histograms, efficiencies, and resolutions

    Initial Central Scintillator Data

  • Cosmic Cap time and dtime (4/00 data vs MC)
  • Cosmic Cap ADC pedestals (4/00 data)
  • Cosmic Cap ADC for good time (4/00 data, no peds subtracted)
