=========================================== Minutes of the meeting held on 04/09/99 =========================================== Present: A. Brandt, J. Blazey, M. Fortner, A. Lucotte, ------- F. Stichelbaut, A. Turcot Issues: ------- (1) Consolidation of EM terms: - For the EM energy, we propose to set the Ref Set to the following values: ( Low, 5 ,7 ,10 ) (GeV) with Low=2-3 GeV depending on Eta - We propose a list of *basic* pre-scaled and un-prescaled EM triggers. Unprescaled (physics) triggers appear in the 1st column. Monitor triggers for these terms are reported in the 2nd column. Their pre-scaling factor is not known yet. With: TNQ = e+gamma CPS cluster + track.or.no_track / quadrant TPQ = e CPS cluster + track / quadrant CEQ = EM deposit / quadrant FPQ = e+gamma FPS cluster / quadrant -------------------------------------------------------------- Unprescaled triggers: | Prescaled triggers: -------------------------------------------------------------- CEM(1,7,C) TEL(1,5) | CEM(1,7,A) CEM(1,7,C) CME(20) | CEM(1,10,C) | CEM(1,10,A) CEM(1,10,N/S) CEQ FPQ | CEM(2,5,C) CEQ TNQ(*) | CEM(2,5,A) CEM(2,5,N/S) CEQ FPQ | CEM(2,7,A) | --------------------------------------------------------------- J/psi and Upsilon terms:(*) [CC_SQ] CEM(2,L,C)TEL(2,2)CH(-1,1) | CEM(2,L,C) CEQ TPQ Sum(TPQ CEQ) | CEM(2,L,S/N) CEQ FPQ [FC_SQ] | [CC_NEQ] | [FC_NEQ] | [CN_Q] | [CS_Q] | --------------------------------------------------------------- - (*) J/psi terms: we assume here that we have the extended ORing capability up to 12 OR's. This allows us to regroup some of the terms defined previously per cryostat. If we dont have this ability, we then have 8 terms: [CC_SQ]: Central-Same Quadrant [NN_SQ]: North-SQ [SS_SQ]: South-SQ [CC_NEQ]: Central-Non Equal Quadrant [NN_NEQ],[SS_NEQ] : North, South -NEQ [CN_Q],[CS_Q]: Central-North, Central-South Quadrant IF we assume here that we have the extended ORing capability up to 12 OR's we can regroup some of the terms and end up with 6 terms: [CC_SQ] [FC_SQ] == [NN_SQ] OR [SS_SQ] [CC_NEQ] [FC_NEQ]== [NN_CEQ] OR [SS_NEQ] etc... - Please note the use of the TEL, CME terms in the central region, and of the quadrant matching in the Forward region. This should allow us to run these triggers with no prescaling factor. (2) Consolidation of MUOn terms: - M. Fortner reviewed the possibilities for the muon system. It concerns both the eta-region covered by the muon system, as well as the quality of muons. a) Muon Momentum Thresholds: using the scintillator and the CFT, 4 pt bins are available for the muon, with the sign of the track for the two lowest bins: (+-2, +-4, 7, 11) GeV It has been pointed out that the matching resolution in A,Phi corresponds to *one* CFT sector in Phi, ie: 4.5 deg. J.Blazey however believes this number is about 3 sectors (13.5 deg). b) Muon Quality: Three levels of quality may be required. They correspond to the number of layers (1,2 or 3) associated to the muon candidate. M.Fortner proposes to designate these levels by i, ii or iii. Please note that the requirement for two layers stands for any combination of two layers among the three (eq: 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 2 and 3 etc..) c) Eta-region: It has been emphasized that the muon system should generate terms for the same eta-region as the ones defined for the calorimeter/tracker. Currently, the muon triggers are defined fot the three eta-regions: (1)|eta| <0.8 (2) 0.8< |eta| <1.5 (3) 1.5< |eta| According to M. Fortner, the Muon Trigger Manager *can* do the logic (ORing or any kind of AND/OR combination) before sending information to the global level. This results in defining 2 eta-bins: Central: |eta|<1.5 by the combination of the first two All : 1.5< |eta| All the possible combinations that can be performed at the TM level are formed from the terms reported in the table below. ->For eg, a Central Medium Muon of 4 GeV can be defined from the combination of a 4ii(medium) muon in |eta| < 0.8 AND a 4iii(tight) muon in 0.8 < |eta| < 1.6 etc... d) Exhaustive list of terms available at TM Note: Y=Yes, N=No, ' '= Not used +- : sign of the track (CFT in central, torroid in forward) i,ii,iii: quality of the muon CT : Central Tracker system DT : Drift Tube ST : Scintillator ___________________________________________________________________________ \Pt| +-2 | +-4 | +-4 | +-4 | 7 | 7 | 11 | 11 | CT+ST | DT | DT | DT | Eta \ | i | i | ii | iii | ii | iii| ii | iii| | i | ii | iii | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) | Y | Y | Y | | Y | | | | | Y | Y | Y | (2) | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | | Y | Y | Y | (3) | | | | | | | | | Y | Y | Y | Y | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- e) List of MUO terms: F. Stichelbaut and M. Fortner propose to define the following qualities requirement for: o 2 GeV Muon: L == i A (layer A) M == iA AND DTiA o 4 GeV Muon: L == i M == (ii AND DTi) OR (iiFamus AND DTi) T == (iiWamus AND DTii) OR (iiiFamus DTii) Unprescaled and pre-scaled terms proposed are the following: Unprescaled | Prescaled ----------------|--------------- MUO(1,7,C,M/L) | MUO(1,4,A,M) | MUO(2,4,A,L) | MUO(2,2,C/A,M/L)| (3) Consolidation of QCD terms: - we receive a new list for QCD triggers.
